Line Up a Soccer Field - How To

First off, the striper is usually located in a box, and is stored away in an area that only the soccer coach has access to. There are a lot of things you need to know about how to work the strip machine. Because it is all needed to be put together before use and taken apart after the use. First off you will need to get permission from the coach for the lock box key. You must unlock the lock and change the position from locked to open.

When you open the box and remove the striper you may only remove one box of paint. It may not sound like a lot but one box of paint goes a long way. The second step is lining up the striper. You must unfold the handle and tighten the screw to keep the handle straight. Open the box of paint and place it in the box sized carrier at the rear end of the striper.

Move the handle so that the lower end fits into the two remaining screws at the bottom of the striping machine. After you tighten the two remaining screws securely, you may begin to wheel the striper to the field. Now, the next step is lining up the field where you may have to do some measurements and some math (if there are no old lines) before starting out.

You may now take out one can of paint and shake it very well until you can hear what sounds like a ball rattling around inside the can. Once you hear that it means that the paint inside is all mixed up and ready to go. Insert the paint can into the tray towards the front of the striping machine. The wide part of the nozzle will be perpendicular to the direction of travel.

The sides of the paint holder will fit into notches on both sides of the opening in the tray. The front and back of the can will lie on the front and back of the tray. Squeezing the handle on the striper will now let out a flow of paint onto the field. First, before doing anything you need to look for the previous lines on the field and position your machine. After that is done you may start squeezing the handle and begin lining up the field.

There should be two touch lines that are on the sides of the field. Two goal lines that is located at each end of the field. As all games there must be a half way line that is right down the middle. There should be two penalty areas that are the bigger boxes at each end of the field and two goal areas which are the small boxes at each end of the field. There shall be two penalty arcs which looks like a half circle at the top of each penalty area.

One center circle is required in the very middle of the whole soccer field. There should be only two penalty marks which are 9 inch diameter circles midway between the top of the goal area and top of the penalty area at each end of the field. One center spot is included in the dimensions, a 9 inch diameter at the exact center of the field, four corner arcs that are three feet from each corner. And last but not least there shall be two coaches' technical areas which is a box extending 30 feet down the touch lines from the center of the field and located three feet from the touch line.

Manchester United V Sporting Lisbon

On Tuesday night Manchester United will face Portugese side Sporting Lisbon at Old Trafford in their last but one match in the group stage of this years Champions League Competition.

United of course faced Lisbon in their opening match of the tournament recording a 1-0 victory thanks to a headed goal by Ronaldo.

The goal was a well worked team effort with defender Wes Brown the creator with a fine right-wing cross, which Ronaldo diverted past goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic with a diving header. Many fans would have written the script that it would be Ronaldo who would score the winning goal, with Lisbon being the club that he left to join Man Utd four years ago. Young winger Nani also returned to his former club that night and was also applauded by the home supporters.

Lisbon did give United a few scares in the match though, with Edwin Van Der Sar having to make a good save from Liedson's shot in the first half and also made a great second half save from Tonel's header.

Since that match Man United have won all of their games in the group stage and have guaranteed their place in the second round. They may see this as an opportunity to give some experience to some of the second string and younger members of the squad.

If this is the case, young right back Danny Simpson could be involved as could central defenders Gerard Pique and Jonathan Evans. All three appeared in the 4-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev, with Pique getting on the score sheet.

With Wayne Rooney injured and Louis Saha not fully fit, United could give a chance to Dong Fangzhuo along side Carlos Tevez, or even as a lone striker with the attacking midfielders offering their support.

Sporting Lisbon enter this game in third place in the group, three points behind Roma with two games remaining. They have had a mixed start to the campaign, recording one win, one draw and two defeats.
If they are going to over take the Italian club and secure a second place finish, they will need to collect at least a point from this game. Manager Paulo Bento may fancy his sides chances of causing an upset should United omit many first team members from the squad. Expect the likes of Yannick Djalo and Argentine Leandro Romagnoli to start the game and look to cause the Man United defence problems.

If Sporting Lisbon can cause an upset in this match, they will be hoping that bottom side Dynamo Kiev can contain Roma at home before facing the Ukrainian side at the Estadio Jose Alvalade a week later.

In between those games Manchester United face Roma in Italy, that match may be competed under pre season conditions should Roma have also qualified by then.

Before you can learn some really awesome soccer moves, you need to get the basic ones down first. Learning the basics is not hard but as with anything it does take practice. It is vital that you learn the moves laid out below as they will help you to master the more advanced ones. Below are three basic soccer moves that everyone needs to learn first.

Our first move we are going to learn is dribbling. Yes, it is not a flashy move but it is very important none the less. Many argue, for good reason, that dribbling is the foundation of your game. Dribbling boils down to having the ability to move a ball up and down or anywhere on the field in a controlled manner. In essence, dribbling utilizes the left and right foot to move the soccer ball anywhere on the field in a stable and controlled manner. Learning to dribble can be done by tapping, shoving or pushing the ball with the inside, sole or outside of your feet. Before you commence practicing your dribbling skills, you first need to get acquainted with the ball. The best way to do this is to simply juggle a soccer ball with both feet. When you juggle the ball, you develop a feel for the ball along with coordination that will help you pick up other moves more quickly in the future.

Our next move is one that is called passing. There are really only two types of passing, the push or short pass and the long pass. Having the ability to correctly pass the ball gives a team and player the ability to move the ball anywhere on the field while keeping it away from the opposing team. As far as accuracy is concerned, the push pass is better than the long pass. The push pass uses the inside and middle portions of either foot. In essence, you will be striking the ball with the middle inside portion of the foot that you want to pass with. Your other foot will be used to help aim the pass by being pointed in the direction you want the ball to go and planted next to the ball itself. You will follow this same technique when performing a long pass, only you'll strike the ball a little harder. It is vitally important to always keep your focus on the ball. This will help tremendously in the accuracy of the pass.

Our final move is the actual shot. Arguably, accuracy is the most important aspect when taking a shot on goal. Most of us can kick a ball hard, but the select few who can do it accurately stand out amongst us. Using the instruction on passing the ball from above, you need to plant your foot that is not striking the ball next to the ball and pointing in the direction you want it to end up. The foot that actually kicks the ball needs to be done so with the inside and on an angle to the foot. Look down at your foot and picture it as a right angle. For example, the bottom of your foot would be the zero degree axis and the top would be the ninety degree axis. When you strike the ball you want to do so in the middle of 0 and 90 degrees or at the 45 degree mark. By kicking with this portion of the foot you will be able to get the most power and accuracy. You must always remember to keep your eye on the ball so it will be accurate as well.

Manchester United welcome Fulham to Old Trafford on Monday December 3rd in their next Premier League fixture.

Man United will have observed how the other teams at the summit of the Premiership table perform over the weekend and could find themselves six points behind Arsenal before kick off, with the Gunners also having a game in hand to play. Chelsea could also overtake the Red Devils if they collect three points against West Ham on Saturday.

Following United's shock 1-0 defeat at Bolton, the pressure will be on Ales Ferguson's side to gain three vital points. They will be well rested after having the unusual luxury of having six days between fixtures following their match with Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.

There should be a recall into the squad for Ronaldo, who was left out of the 16 man squad that faced Bolton Wanderers last Saturday. With the side loosing away from home, the fans were shocked to see one of their most dangerous players sitting in the stands, unavailable for action.

Carlos Tevez, who missed that glorious chance against Bolton should retain his place in the side, however strike partner Louis Saha may be moved back to the substitute's bench. His replacement in the line up could be none other than Wayne Rooney, who has been pushing himself hard to return to the side following his injury.

There should also be a place for Nemanja Vidic who missed the last match due to international commitments. Vidic and Ferdinand have a superb pairing at the heart of the defence and could be joined by Gary Neville, who has been kicking his heels waiting to get back into the side following a lengthy lay off.

Fulham under Lawrie Sanchez have proved to be a much different proposition compared to last season. At home they have been unlucky not to collect more points than they have done, but are still yet to improve their points tally away from Craven Cottage.

They enter this game having drawn four out of their last five games, the other match in that sequence was a 2-0 defeat at Anfield.

Sanchez is building a competitive side, that is dangerous on the counter attack. Upfront they boast David Healy, who recently broke the European Championship qualifying goal scoring record whilst on duty for Northern Ireland and Clinton Dempsey is beginning to work well.

Fulham are likely to employ a 4-5-1 system with Healy supported by Mohammed Karama and American international Clinon Dempsey. If required they can bring on veteran target man Shefki Kuqi, who is on loan from Crystal Palace or the quick Hameur Bouazza should he not be given a starting place in the side.

This was the opening fixture for the two teams last season with Manchester United thrashing the team that was then led by Chris Coleman 5-1. United were quick out of the blocks that game and established a 4-0 lead with only 20 minutes gone with goals from Saha, Rooney, Ronaldo and an own goal by Ian Pearce.

Manchester United Tie Gives Chelsea a New Hope

On Saturday English Premier League leader Manchester United drew 1-1 during the 35th closing round allowing Chelsea to reduce the gap to only three points.

The points were scored by South American Roque Santa Cruz who opened the scoreboard in the 21st minute and Manchester’s goal came from the Argentinean Carlos Tevez in the 88th minute with a shooting to the net in combination with offensive midfielder Paul Scholes.

But the hero of the day was Chelsea's goalkeeper Brad Friedel who played an exceptional game stopping some eminent goal shots above all when the visitors were hunting the draw desperately in the second half.

During the 79th minute Friedel stopped Tévez and later on Wayne Rooney as well as the Irish defense John O'Shea (86th) before the goal arrived. Before the 64th minute the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo threw a ball against a post. This unexpected result holds back Manchester’s run for the title, which previously seemed to be an easy task for the “Red Devils.”

On Thursday Chelsea won over Everton 0-1 and now had 78 points only three points shy of the current leader. The only goal of the game was that of Ghanaian Michael Essien during the first half of the game at the 41st minute.

On the other hand, Arsenal was left out of the competition for the title after being overrun by Reading 2-0. This game put an end to Arsenal’s five games without winning at the Emirates Stadium.

At last the Londoners managed to offer a victory to their supporters thanks to the good work of the Spaniard Cesc Fábregas who was defending the center of the field as well as Togolese Emmanuel Adebayor and of the Brazilian Gilberto; the 'Gunners', third in the general classification are situated seven points behind of the leader.

Liverpool achieved a new victory, this time against Fulham (0-2), with a total of eight points from Everton which is in fifth position in the battle for the title; situation which is not completely obscure as this allows them a pot for the next Champions League edition

Lastly; there is Bolton, which recently won over Middlesbrough 0-1 and was able to take a breath. Meantime, the Derby County continues in bad shape after losing to West Ham 2-1.

This Sunday, Aston Village sixth place of the classification board, sank even further down after losing to Birmingham (5-1), while Newcastle took air after winning 2-0 over Sunderland.

Chelsea V Sunderland Preview

Chelsea welcome struggling Sunderland to Stamford Bridge on Saturday as they look to close the gap at the top of the table by collecting three more Premiership points.

Chelsea enter the match after securing a 1-0 victory against a resilient West Ham side thanks to a late goal from Joe Cole, who ironically had once captained the opposition side.

Under manager Avrim Grant Chelsea have only tasted defeat in the Premiership once which was during his first game in charge against Champions Manchester United. In the eight Premiership games since that fixture, Chelsea have won six and drawn two of the matches. The victories include a superb 6-0 demolition of fourth placed Manchester City. There's no doubt that the Blues have looked much more attacking than under the previous manager Jose Mourinho.

They have a mini injury crisis of sorts with the defence, with Portuguese duo Paulo Ferreria and Ricardo Cavalho both unavailable until the new year. Left back Ashley Cole is still struggling to overcome his injury, but he may be deemed fit for this match. First choice goalkeeper Petr Cech is also still unavailable, so deputy Carlo Cudicini will keep his place in the side.

Sunderland currently occupy fifteenth position in the league, only two points ahead of Middlesbrough who are in eighteenth place, in the relegation zone.

On Saturday Sunderland finally recorded a victory in the Premiership, which was their first in eight attempts. The victory over bottom placed Derby County came via a stoppage time goal by substitute striker Antony Stokes. Before the match against Derby, their last win was a home victory over Reading, on September 15th.

Manager Roy Keane has showed that he is not afraid to axe his players if they are not performing. Following their humiliating 7-1 defeat at Everton, Craig Gordon, who is the most expensive goalkeeper in British history found him self dropped from the first team in place of Darren Ward.
Striker Michael Chopra, a five million pound summer capture from Cardiff has also struggled to maintain his place in the side.

On Saturday Keane opted to start the game with Kenwyne Jones and veteran striker Andrew Cole up front, should he opt to play two strikers again, this duo may get the nod, although Stokes' late winner may give Roy Keane a selection headache.

If Chelsea can win this match, they could move up to second place depending on how Manchester United fare this weekend. Sunderland could be leapfrogged by Tottenham, Bolton and Middlesbrough this weekend if they loose and could find themselves in the relegation zone.

Playing Soccer vs. Learning Soccer

Does just "playing the game" create great players?

Somewhere along the way someone made two great comments.
However, some how they often get twisted the wrong way.

1) "Youth players learn the game of soccer by playing the game."

2) "The game is the best teacher."

These are very true statements but you MUST understand that the GAME is the GAME and technical skills are skills we take to the game to play.
Just "doing" something over and over does NOT necessarily make you better at it.

I have seen soccer players that have "played the game" for years and years but they have very poor technical skills. Parents often don't understand this and call the teams that their children are trying out for "POLITICAL" in their selection process. Not understanding that "little Jimmy" can run fast and is big for his age, but can't receive a simple long pass to save his life.
One of the most PAINFUL things for me to watch is a young / maturing soccer player, generally between 13 - 16 years in age, tryout for a team thinking that all those years of playing and practice "on the field" will help them. They hit the field and look "clumsy" compared to others. They are still "toe kicking", can't perform proper traps, have trouble making quality passes and just don't have a good first touch. I feel horrible for the player knowing that much of their precious development years have been wasted.

Soccer players gain vision, understanding, creativity, and teamwork from "playing the game". They become a more highly skilled player by refining and improving their technical skills AWAY from the game. This is why the SOCCERU series www.SoccerU.com was designed. Teach them early and expose them to as much as they are able and willing to learn.

I will use the example of the 60 year old golf player. (Slicer)
I once knew a man that loved golf. He played the game twice a week for over 40 years. He was a self taught golfer that never took lessons and really didn't go to the range often. His philosophy was that "the game was the best teacher".

The funny thing is that he never really improved. After "playing the game" over 20 years (more than 80,000 holes of golf) he still had the same swing, slice, and still shot in the 90's.

Soccer or any sport is much the same. If we simply "play the game" over and over we only can improve "so much". We use the same skills and HABITS throughout the years.

Until we OPEN OUR MINDS and allow our bodies to feel things in a different way, we will do what feels "natural". Often this is wrong or needing improvement.

I always get a chuckle when I get an email from someone about this subject. It is often a teenager saying, "Joe Superstar, a pro soccer player, didn't become great by working on technical skills. He became great by playing soccer for years and years and in the streets of his home town." Little does this person realize that the amount of technical training these players receive at a young age in training centers is HUGE. It is those that have their technical ability constantly improved that are able to take their game to the next level.

Usually this email ends with the person saying, "I learned the game by playing the game and not spending hours working on technical skills."
I always reply back warmly, but also with a common thought, expressed with a question.

"That is great to hear and I hope you do well. What team are you signing with?"
I have yet to get a response back.

Play the game because you love the game. Work on improving your skills because you have a desire to be better and improve your game. Take those new skills to the field and use them often.

We think it was said best by former U.S. Men's National Team captain Claudio Reyna: "It's possible at any time during a player's career to get into top physical shape or to try to win every game! But you can't teach skills to an old player. Youth coaches should keep in mind that individual skills need to be nurtured at an early age. Players who haven't mastered the fundamental skills become frustrated because the game gets too difficult for them as they move into higher levels."

Essential Soccer Skills - The Professional Foul

Football, or soccer as it is strangely known in younger countries, is a physical game full of rough and tumble. As teams strain every nerve and sinew to win, the rules are inevitably broken and fouls are committed. A foul is when you kick, maim or incapacitate a player in an illegal fashion in order to gain an advantage for your side. Typical fouls are tackles from behind and two footed slides as well as more innocuous incidents such as high feet and shoulder barges.

A professional foul is one committed by a professional. It is generally the name given to a cynical foul that halts the opposition's counter attack or stops them scoring a certain goal. Good practitioners of the professional foul are John Terry of Chelsea and James Pickard of Sheerness East. To complete an effective professional foul you need to make sure that you do not win the ball and that the opposing player is stopped in their tracks.

The first thing to put in your pocket when deciding to commit a professional foul is confidence. If you're not confident you may end up missing the player and looking like a pleb. Be confident that you can take the opponent down while making it look like an accident. It is a skill you'll need if the striker is much faster than you and you haven't a hope of legitimately tacking him. Tackle with confidence and make sure you go down as well, this will reduce your chances of getting a red card.

Timing of the foul is also important. You must make sure that you don't make the foul while you still have a chance of getting the ball within the laws of the game. Also don't make the foul if one of your team mates can cover for you. Committing the foul at this point could lead to you picking up a card, which prevents you from making another foul later in the game. With perfect timing you can foul the opposition forward just after he has beaten you with skill and flair and gained a clear path to goal. At this point you can show how tough you are and let out your frustration at not being skilled enough to play in an attacking position. Try to take the player out, but don't hurt them, that's just nasty.

Remember, the professional foul is a last resort after you've been beaten. Try sliding looking like you're reaching for the ball and missing. You can claim you touched the ball and feign innocence afterwards. Another good one is to just clip the heels of the attacker while keeping your arms raised in the air as if to say you didn't touch him. Flouncy attackers often dive and fake an injury so you're quite likely to have the referee on your side if their player makes a theatrical dive to the turf. Good luck in your next game, and try not to get caught.

The world of soccer is littered with great examples of successful brothers playing the game. In this article I'm going to look over some of the legendary siblings that have graced the beautiful game.

One of the best central defenders in the world at the moment, Rio Ferdinand is hailed as a key to the success of Manchester United. He combines composure on the ball and defensive ruggedness with a down-to-earth attitude and a keen eye for goal. He is consistently picked in Premier League team of the seasons and will surely be remembered as the greatest defenders of all time.

As Rio makes his mark on the world of football in the 21st Century so did his older brother Les during the 1990s. Les Ferdinand was one of the deadliest finishers the league has ever known, in his prime only Iain Dowie could compare to his lethal finishing ability. Les Ferdianand was known for his grace and power, traits that his brother has inherited. Les Ferdinand will be remembered for years to come for his mesmerising dribbling ability and cool finishing.

The Alan Smith brothers are also great examples of footballing brothers making a success of the game. Alan Smith lead the line for Arsenal during the early 90s, scoring many goals and helping his team to a cabinet full of trophies. As the decade ended his younger brother Alan spearheaded the deadly Leeds United attack. When he left for Manchester United in 2001 Leeds dropped off the football map, nearly going into administration. This shows just how vital he was for the team.

Of course not all great football brotherhoods are English. The Ronaldo brothers have become synonymous with flair and outrageous skill. Ronaldo helped Brazil to a World Cup victory in 2002 almost single-handedly, a testament to his ability. His younger brother, Cristiano Ronaldo, now plays for Manchester United and helped them to win several major trophies. They are both lauded for their complete mastery of a football.

Perhaps the greatest footballing family are the Coles. Ashley, Joe, Andy and Carlton are known as the four greatest footballers to ever play the game. The fact that they are all from the same family is staggering. Comparisons have been made to the Jackson 5 for their dominance of their respective fields. In much the same way as the pop band the Coles were an instant success, with Andy leading the way first, topping scoring charts in every league in which he performed.

Hopefully this goes to show that if your brother is an amazing footballer then there is no reason that you can't be as well. Put in enough practise and maybe one day you'll be as good as Duncan or Barry Ferguson.

In the most basic rules of soccer besides having fun you should make sure that you manipulate the ball with the rest of your body. Although this appears to be a simple task, try it, you will soon find out it is challenging. You want to be sure that your hands and arms come absolutely no where near the association football or the other team will get a free turn at performing and your squad will have to begin the defensive attitude soccer ball game.

When you are playing this game you will need to make sure that you don’t take on the goal keeper. He almost is considered to be in sacred ground back there at the goal. Another words, goal keepers are well protected by the rules. Doing a move like this will only gain your team a foul. This is a punishment which will let your opponents have a free turn at trying to score a goal. Of all the basic rules of soccer, that of winning the game by having the most goals scored is the end all be all. You must try to reach this by playing fairly, otherwise your team will suffer useful points.

So, what else can be included in the basic rules of soccer? what can you anticipate? You should try and ward off any dive tackles as this can cause hurt to the person that you are tackling. Now, once you become more experienced there are ways to accomplish the same end result as a diving tackle would. Except without the injuries and penalties. Also, you will want to invest in the right soccer equipment that your soccer team approves of. Now there is only one main rule that you will need to remember. Steps to coaching youth players; progressive training

Step1- basic techniques (passing, heading, control, tackling, dribble)

Step2- tactical training (defensive and attacking)

Step3- positional training (formations, position play)

Step4- advance techniques (long pass, crosses, shooting, basic skill eg. cruyff turn, stepovers, side steps)

Step5- setpieces (throw in, free kick, corner kick, penalty kick)

I have been playing soccer since i was 8years old. It all started by playing with the kids from class during recess breaks. Somehow i knew had a talent in it when other kids look up to me when we have games and was always one of the first to be chosen. Subsequently, the coach from my junior school team invited me to join the team after watching me play during one of those inter-class games. Thus I always believe that the basics is very important if any kid wants to do well or even go professional in future.

Treat soccer as something fun, enjoy it, only through enjoyment can one play better. Kids play soccer because they enjoy it so don't take that away from them. At first glance it is hard to tell one soccer ball from another. Usually constructed in the same distinctive style, the trademark pentagonal and hexagonal panels make a soccer ball instantly recognizable. However, when you are trying to tell the difference between one ball and another, the first place to start is the cover.

In the past, full grain leather was used to make a top quality soccer ball, but real leather tends to absorb water easily, and a wet ball is a heavy ball that plays much differently than it was intended to play. Today, the first quality soccer balls are constructed from synthetic leather. The two-footed tackle is an illegal move and will often result in the offender being red-carded. Block tackles involve a player staying upright, using physical strength and retrieving the ball without going to ground.

If you can improve your juggling, you will definitely

* Improve your first touch on the ball.

* Improve your ball control

* Give you greater confidence when dribbling

* Improve your concentration

* Make you more comfortable and competent when receiving the ball

Lets get started and get you going!
Step 1

1. Use a partially flat ball

2. Begin juggling on a hard surface that has a nice even bounce

3. Hold the ball with both hands, arms straight out at chest height

4. Release the ball and let it bounce once

5. Before it bounces again, kick the ball back to chest height and catch it

There, you have done your first juggle, now on to bigger and better things
The sequence that you just did is called

drop-bounce-kick-catch

Keep practicing Step 1 using both feet until you can consistently kick the ball back to chest height
Step 2
You will do a similar exercise to step one, but this time the pattern is

drop-bounce-kick-bounce-kick-catch

That's right, all we have done is increase the number of kicks to 2 using the same foot
Keep practicing Step 2 until you can manage it consistently.
Step 3
We are now at the stage where we should be able to repeat the

sequence as many times as possible. We will continue as we did in Step 1 and Step 2, but now
Try to kick the ball to the same height that it was dropped from
Stay within a square that is 5 yards by 5 yards

Now for something a bit more challenging
We will repeat Step 1, but this time we do not let the ball bounce, so the sequence is

Keep practicing Step 4 using both feet until you can consistently kick the ball back to chest height
Step 5
You got it, Step 5 is similar to Step 4, but with one more, so the sequence is

drop-kick-kick-catch

Keep practicing Step 5 using both feet until you can consistently kick the ball back to chest height
Step 6
You should be ready to do unlimited kicks, using one foot at a time, so you just repeat the

kick-kick sequence.

At this stage you should only use one foot at time. That is to say see how many you can do using only your right foot, and then see how many you can do using your left foot. Juggling Practice As well as using your feet, you should also include other parts of the body, such as the thigh and the head. When using the thigh, make sure you use the fleshy part of the thigh and NOT your knee.
You will probably find that the thigh is overused, because the thigh is an easier part of the body to juggle with
Avoid overusing the thigh, just because it easier
Rather than aimlessly juggling, using patterns is a far better way to improve, so use patterns like

1. Left foot

2. Left thigh

3. Head

4. Right thigh

5. Right foot

You can make up your own sequences, but I will stress again, it is far better to follow a pattern, that to aimlessly kick a ball around, just trying to keep it in the air.

There are cool soccer moves, and there are efficient soccer moves. I know a lot of soccer players that are able to perform some outstanding soccer moves. However, once these players enter a real game their moves become useless because they are ineffective. It is always better to master 3-4 efficient soccer moves, rather than being able to perform 20 different soccer moves that will never get you around your opponent.

So, be smart and take advantage of that because you don't want to waste your time practicing on things that you will never use during a real soccer game. Always make sure to use every practice as a chance to become a better soccer player. Following soccer moves are not fancy at all but if you learn to perform them right I can assure you that you will be able to get around any defender.

Step Over
The step-over is my favorite soccer move. The efficiency of this move in 1v1 situations cannot be overemphasized enough. The cool thing with this move is that you can choose to perform it several times in a row which will confuse your opponents even more.

Pull Over
The pull over is very efficient inside the 18 yard box because it allows you to trick your opponents fast and set up the ball quickly for a shoot or pass. As with every other move you should never reveal what you aim to do until the opponent is close enough to you. I usually like to pretend that I will pass the ball and as the opponents hugs for the ball I simply pull the ball back and leave the opponent behind me.

Fake and Cut
This was the first move I learned and it is really efficient whether you are playing as fullback, midfielder or forward. This move is actually a 2 in 1 move you will generally fake a kick and then perform a cut. I like to use this move when having a tight and fast running opponent against me. I recommend you learn how to perform it with both feet. With this way you will be able to fake a kick with your weaker foot and then set up the ball for a shoot with your stronger foot.

Summary:
These moves are simple but will require a lot of time to master. From my experience the biggest mistake people do when performing a soccer move is that they don't accelerate after they've passed the opponent. Don't stand and wait for your defender to catch you up. Instead you should increase your speed to the maximum for 5-10 yards and leave him behind you.

On coaching soccer, the key to motivating soccer players is to help them to motivate themselves.

First, you need to set the example. This means that you need to use the Golden Rule and speak to them the way that you wish them to speak to you and the way you hope they speak to themselves.

Using positive reinforcement will go a long way to helping players feel good enough about themselves and their soccer game to want to strive for more. How? It is really very simple. Focus on the positive things and do not focus on the negative things.

We live in a rat race society and we tend to compare ourselves to others much of the time. Children go through school constantly being compared to others and then move to their post-secondary education looking to be the best so they can receive scholarships and awards.

They want to please their parents and they want to do well. They often focus on what they did wrong or what they did not do. In the end they can feel very frustrated, angry, and can even feel like a failure and this attitude can be carried onto the soccer field.

Using positive reinforcement means focusing on the positive or what went right. There is no need to look at what a player did not do properly. You may ask, how do you help a player correct poor technique or improve their soccer game without looking at what they did improperly.

On soccer coaching, the key is to look at what they did right and say that you want to see them do it again. Instead of saying, “That was a good kick, but when you kick the ball, place your foot here,” try, “Hey, on that last penalty kick you had great follow through and made the shot. Let’s see that again and this time try placing your foot here.”

This is much more effective. Instead of feeling frustrated that they are not getting it right they will feel good about themselves for getting at least part of it right and they will be eager to do it again.

Of course there are times when they will get part of a technique right and not do something else in the proper way. Begin with pointing out the areas in which they performed well and then tell them you want to see it again with another part added in.

This way they will try again from the positive outlook that they can do it and they just need to adjust something. For example, instead of saying, “that was a good try, but when you kick the ball you need to kick through the ball. You are stopping short,” try saying, “Great kick! You foot positioning was bang on.

Now let me see it again and this time kick your foot all the way through the ball and see how much farther it will go.” Whether you are working with kids of adults, they will respond to this sort of encouragement.

It is also important to teach the players to positively reinforce their soccer team-mates and to encourage each other. In this way, players will feel even better about what they have accomplished, especially when they are nearing adolescence and their peers begin to have a greater influence on them than the adults in their lives do.

Motivating soccer players is about helping them feel good enough about themselves and what they are doing that they desire to strive for more. They will want to improve themselves and their game from the positive frame of mind that they are good players who are improving all the time, instead of feeling that they are inadequate and need to improve their game to become good enough.

Attacking headers are more likely to be simple redirections while defensive headers might require further encouragement from the player to obtain sufficient distances.

Attacking headers require the most finesse from the player. The key fact to take home is that the best way to score a goal with a header is play the ball down, towards the floor. Hit at pace it makes it harder for the goalkeeper to intervene and prevent your team from scoring points. To do this you must be over the ball and strike the top hemisphere with your forehead, using your neck to generate thrust. A defensive heading specialist will strike the underside of the game sphere to create upward momentum and clear the ball from danger.

Heading the ball is a specialist skill and you definitely need a lot of practise to build up a good technique. The key is to start easy and work up to a match situation. Nothing is perfect overnight and heading is one of the harder football skills you can take on. Soccer Lessons - How To Kick a Soccer Ball Properly

One of the most important soccer lessons and the first thing to know on kicking a soccer ball is what not to do. Do not kick a soccer ball with your toes, unless you are poking the ball to steel it from an opponent. There is not enough surface area on the toes to be able to aim the ball properly.

When kicking the ball the most powerful place to strike the ball with is the instep of your foot (the place where the shoelaces are). You will use this kicking technique most often.

Your supporting foot should be in line with the ball and the leg should be slightly bent. Once you strike the ball, follow through with a sweeping motion.

The inside of the foot is also used to kick the ball.

The supporting foot should be pointed at the target and in line with the ball.

Swing your kicking foot through the ball using a sweeping motion.

The ball should move smoothly along the ground.

A more advanced kick is achieved by using the outside of the foot

The supporting foot should be angled at about 15º from the target.
You need to be sure your foot is firmly locked before striking the ball.
